Tamiya 1/35 M113 APC >MTM + Video+3 - modler - 06-05-2022

Greetings from Lakewood Ohio USA  Wink

I have many model Tanks and the M1123 APC was available for trails as the former radio gear was removed for upgrade.

The motors in the APC are very compatible (4 ohms) with the MTM radio motor output and were ready to go so this saved me some time and was able to get a model running quickly.

M113 APC first run (M2=L|M3=R) single stick mixed motor control) (tracked vehicles)

M113 APC with better wave sound programming. (M2=L|M3=R) single stick mixed motor control) (tracked vehicles)

Sherman M4A3 with Dual stick (M2=L|M1=R) dual stick motor control) (other vehicles)

Nice work!
A good example of the MTM kit adaptability... Wink
I hope you had fun mounting it and now fun running it?

Oh certainly. Impressive radio equipment for sure. It has occupied a good deal of my time since receiving the MTM system. Next is a M4A3 Sherman.

I tried something new in the Sherman. I went to "other vehicles" and switched motor 3 to 1 (M2=L M1=R) for Dual stick control. Results can be seen in the video here https://youtu.be/jC6ZPnPiZVE

looks great! have you found the proper sound? Sherman sound is so specific, you can not make without it!
Seems you use your old Tamiya boxes with their motors, any plan to use the MTM kit on a "standard" model?

Yes I attempted that with the Crusader and was not successful for a few reasons and now I need more axle shafts to try again. I used up the ones in the kit and need more.

If you used the tracks of the model (vinyl), it couldn't work, these trackes are too soft and the torque is too high.
To use the motors and the angle gear boxes supplied with the kit, you need moveable tracks (articulated metal tracks from Friul for instance). Do you have some? If yes, I can send you a couple of shafts.

Oh, that explains it. the soft tracks put too much torque on the output shafts. I get some of those tracks you speak of and try again and yes I need more output shafts.

Sorry for my clumsy posting duplication posts here I am still learning how to post to this site.

I have a few videos today showing the MTM gearbox in a M4 Halftrack chassis. I have been working with this gearbox and have figured out a few things that make it more robust and able to drive plastic and rubber tracks. So here is a progression of my work in video form.
