great! but if you want to change direction (left or right), how will you do?

note: this is an old model I have owned for 25 years. 
I used a Ultra Micro servo in a modified existing steering box for the Left\Right control of the model..

I guess you have to add weight in front to make the steering effective?

I tested it yesterday and it seems to work good with no added weight. During that test, the right rear track Idler wheel broke so I am repairing that and will test again. I will post a video asap.

Track idle wheels repaired and steel axle added. The tracks used are not rubber but rather a hard compound plastic Track which can slip so the turning L|R of the the Halftrack is excellent as can be seen in the video.

Ok got it done. Gearbox is holding up well after 1 hour running the track. It is fun to drive and is a total success.

I am having trouble finding good plastic ITL tracks suitable for radio control model use. So I am using poly tracks on the next project which is a Tamiya M10 Tank Destroyer.

The latest build of the M10 features:
1. Revised axle assembly improves strength and allows the use of narrow width 1/35 poly tracks with minimum tension.

2. Tie strap secures two part gearbox housing. Now it can come apart for repair if needed but cutting the strap.

3.  New mounting of the gearbox with one micro self tapping screw that allows a pivot axis for track tension and makes for easy removal of gearbox for service and or repair or swap into another vehicle.

4. Removable drive sprocket with 1/35 Tamiya compatibility allows standard Tamiya sprockets to be used with minor modification.

Oh certainly. Impressive radio equipment for sure. It has occupied a good deal of my time since receiving the MTM system. Next is a M4A3 Sherman.

 

I tried something new in the Sherman. I went to "other vehicles" and switched motor 3 to 1 (M2=L M1=R) for Dual stick control. Results can be seen in the video here https://youtu.be/jC6ZPnPiZVE
